Fanvue Chargebacks and Refunds: A Creator's Guide
Fanvue chargebacks and refunds come out of the creator's balance: Fanvue's payout policy says it may deduct a disputed amount or withhold it from future payouts. Refunds are Fanvue's decision, so point fans to Fanvue support rather than promising one yourself. Above a 1.5% dispute rate, Fanvue may charge $50 per extra dispute.
Fanvue chargebacks and refunds for creators: what happens to your balance, the 1.5% dispute rule, and how to answer a fan who asks for money back.
Fanvue chargebacks and refund requests are part of selling anything online, and as a creator you feel them in your balance. The good news is that Fanvue's own policies spell out what happens, and most of what you can do about it comes down to clear descriptions and calm replies. Here's how it works.
๐01. What happens to your earnings when a fan gets a refund or chargeback?
A refund is money Fanvue gives back to a fan. A chargeback is when a fan disputes a payment through their bank or card provider instead. Either way, the money comes back out of what you earned from that payment.
Fanvue's Creator Earnings & Payouts policy says that if a fan successfully receives a refund or starts a chargeback for something on your account, Fanvue may deduct the disputed amount from your creator balance. If you've already been paid out, it may withhold the amount from future payouts instead.
Fanvue's general Terms say the same thing in stronger words: a refunded or charged-back amount already paid out to a creator becomes a debt owed to Fanvue, which it can recover from your creator balance without notice. The payout policy also says creator earnings may be adjusted for refunds, chargebacks or fraud-related deductions.
For how this shows up on your earnings page, and how your available balance works, see our guide to how Fanvue payouts work.
๐02. Is there a fee for too many chargebacks on Fanvue?
There can be. Fanvue's payout policy says that if your account goes over a 1.5% chargeback or dispute rate in any rolling 30-day period, it may charge a $50 administrative fee for each additional dispute. The policy calls the fee discretionary, and says it may be waived in genuine cases of error or where you tried to resolve things.
Fanvue's Terms explain why it cares. They say disputes can point to problems with a creator's content or services, and encourage creators to monitor their dispute rate. They name friendly fraud and account takeover fraud alongside genuine card fraud, and ask creators to address underlying issues and keep good relations with their audience.
๐03. What should you do when a fan asks you for a refund?
Stay kind, and don't promise money back yourself. Under Fanvue's Terms, transactions are treated as final, with room for exceptions when something wasn't as described, and any refund is Fanvue's call to make. Anyone who thinks they're owed one is told to contact Fanvue's support team.
Fanvue's refund article lists the cases it will look at: a fan charged more than once for the same content, a technical error that stopped them accessing what they paid for, or content that was different from how it was described. It says fans must raise a query within 30 days of the transaction.
A reply could be as simple as: "I'm sorry it didn't feel right! Refunds go through Fanvue's support team, and they can look at it for you. If something didn't load properly, tell me and I'll check on my side too." It's warm, honest about who decides, and leaves the door open.
Keep your own short note as well: the date, what the fan bought and what you sent. If Fanvue's support team looks into it, you'll have the details to hand instead of scrolling back through weeks of chat.
Encourage fans to go to Fanvue before their bank. Fanvue's Terms say chargebacks for paid services aren't permitted, and that Fanvue may suspend or end the account of anyone who seeks a refund or chargeback without merit. Our fan guide, Can You Get a Refund on Fanvue?, explains the process from their side, so it's a useful link to share.
๐04. How can you prevent disputes before they start?
Describe things exactly. Fanvue's PPV guide asks creators to be realistic in captions and warns that overpromising hurts trust, and content that differs from its description is one of the cases Fanvue reviews. A caption that says "ten photos" when there are ten gives nobody a reason to complain.
Deliver what you sell, and keep it on Fanvue. In its compliance guide, Fanvue asks creators to keep money, shared files and chats on the platform, where it moderates and can help when you report a problem. That message history also doubles as your record of what was sent and when.
Help fans recognise the charge. Some disputes start with a payment a fan doesn't recognise. Fanvue's Terms say payments are debited as FANVUE or SHIFT HOLDINGS LTD, depending on the payment method and location, and tell anyone who doesn't recognise a transaction to contact Fanvue support.
If a payout itself looks wrong, act quickly. Fanvue's payout policy says you must tell it within 30 days of the related transaction if you didn't receive a payout or think an amount is incorrect, and that no adjustments are made after that. For how disputes affect your tax records, ask a qualified accountant.
๐05. Fans who know what they're getting
Clear expectations help on the way in, too. On FreeVues, a directory of Fanvue creators that's free to join and independent of Fanvue, your card shows your public Fanvue info plus the niche, tags, vibe and rates you add, so fans arrive with a clear picture of your page.
FreeVues never takes a payment from fans: they click through to your Fanvue page, and everything happens there. Getting listed is free, you approve it on Fanvue's own screen, and FreeVues never touches your payouts or payment details.

๐06. The calm way to handle it
Expect the occasional refund or chargeback, and keep your dispute rate low with honest descriptions, delivered content and on-platform payments. When a fan asks for money back, be kind, point them to Fanvue support, and check your payouts within 30 days.
